“How did you two meet?” tends to be a common question for Kailee and Rex these days… and as Rex likes to say, the couple met “the old fashion way”… online! Kailee had recently moved to Dallas from Northern Virginia when the Hinge profile of a very handsome UVA graduate, who had also lived in Washington D.C., caught her eye. At that point, the 100+ degree summers that Dallas offer had Kailee missing her home state of Virginia. The idea of connecting with a Dallasite who understood the acute differences between the two states, and could likely relate to what she was adjusting to, was appealing to say the least.

After shooting a few messages back and forth, Rex quickly asked Kailee to dinner. The pair had their first date at el Carlos Elegante in Dallas and what was set to be a quick dinner, turned into a night of talking, laughing, and reminiscing on their favorite Virginia, D.C., and Jeffersonian pastimes. After realizing how much they had in common, Rex and Kailee both knew they wanted to see each other again. Their second date was a trip to Colorado! The two realized that they traveled incredibly well together, and loved spending time with one another. And so began their love story.

Over the next year and a half, the two shared many more travels, gastronomic adventures, and built a fun-loving foundation

Both Kailee and Rex knew that the friendship, love, and life they shared was something special that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives developing. Rex, being the class-act he is, asked Kailee’s parents for their blessing to get engaged over the 2024 Christmas holiday in Virginia. When the couple made it through Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and Valentine’s Day without a proposal, Kailee was effectively thrown off the trail of any impending proposal. Little did she know, Rex had quite the surprise up his sleeve.

On February 15th, 2025, Rex brought Kailee to the rooftop of Hotel Swexan in Dallas under the guise of having brunch reservations. As brunch is one of Kailee’s favorite meals, this was a fully believable cover story. When they arrived to the corner booth of the rooftop, with a panoramic view of Dallas’ skyline, a shocked Kailee turned around to find Rex down on one knee. Once the shock subsided, Kailee eagerly said “YES!”. Now, the two cannot wait to celebrate this exciting new chapter and beginning of their lives together with all of you!
